Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowel

Eleanor and Park is a story about a girl named Eleanor and a boy named Park.

Eleanor is a tall freckled outcast that gets bullied by the other kids at her middle school, nicknamed "Big-Red" after her height and unusually red hair. Eleanor has a pretty rough life besides the bullying. Her father left her mother and her three siblings when she was pretty young. Her mother started dating a man named Richie, who was not only rude, selfish, and loud but also very abusive to her mother and occasionally to her and her siblings.
Park on the other hand is a small asian boy who tries his hardest to stay out of the lime-light by quietly listening to music on his MP3 player. He has a full happy family with his brother mum and dad.
In the story the two meet on their school bus and throughout the beginning of the story they don't ever talk much at first, In fact they don't seem to like each other very much, but she reads his comic books over his shoulders anyway. And then one day they finally speak they have an instant connection to one another. They lend each other books and music and everything is happy for a while. Until the kids at school found out. Though Park seems like quite the outcast he is surprisingly popular at their school, but when his friends find out they do nothing but tease.
Although I haven’t come very far in the book I still definitely recommend this book to anyone. It’s a sweet love story and also has a killer plot.
